The lamb on His shoulders
I believe everyone have seen before or know the picture of Jesus carrying a lamb on His shoulders. However, few know the meaning behind it. It is found in the story "The Lamb's Broken Leg" as told by William Branham.
This is an old shepherd story that was told in Jerusalem in the Holy Lands of a Shepherd carrying a sheep.
Another shepherd asked, "Why are you carrying it?"
"It got a broken leg."
"How did it do that? Fall over a cliff?"
"No, I broke its leg."
The other shepherd said, "Why? You're a cruel shepherd to break that sheep's leg."
"No, I love it. It was going astray and I couldn't make it obey me. So I broke its leg so it would have to depend on me, look to me, and stay with me."
(Adapted from 'Cat and Dog Theology' by Bob Sjogren & Gerald Robison)
Relating to the worldly context, sometimes come to think of it, we really need our leg to be 'broken' in order to be obedient. This world we are living in is deteriorating. The things that are available to us that cause us to sin have increasingly captured our sinful nature and that is why many have been leading astray either from peers or from the media.
Take myself for example; I have not been delighting Him due to my sinful nature and my temptations. We are called to honor and give glory to Him but few have done it. Therefore, I really hope that my legs could be 'broken' by Him and be carried by Him on His shoulders as this is the only way I can be in total obedience.
In fact, whenenever I got injured from my training, it reminds me to rely on Him. Or to phrase it another way, whenever I am injured, He is reminding me that I am relying too much on my own, which He don't want me to.
Like I have said, learning to live the Christ-like life is hard but not impossible. In the process of living out this way, I will be persecuted. Like Him. Perhaps I need to be ready for it. For those who endured to the end will be Saved.
Eugene.
