Peace
What comes to your mind when you picture peace? Is it as simple as the 5-letter word? Or is it complicated as you might picture it?
To put it simple, according to 'The Battlefield of the Mind' by Joyce Meyer, there were 2 artists who were asked to portray peace in their artwork as they perceived. One of the artists managed to paint a quiet, still lake, far back in the mountains. While the other, managed to perceive it as a raging, rushing waterfall that has a birch tree leaning out over it with a bird resting in a nest on one of the branches.
So which artwork truly depicts peace? The second one does as there is no such thing as peace without opposition. The first artwork represents stagnation. The scene it sets forth may be serene; a person might be motivated to want to go there to recuperate. It may offer a pretty picture but it does not depict the true meaning of Peace.
When opposition is going on and peace is found, that shows the wonder of being peaceful. Without opposition and where peace is always present, it depicts an unrealistic world which by nature, impossible to happen in this fallen world.
If the nature is peaceful by default, we, as humans - sinful by nature, are not fit to live in it. It is only the one whom is Perfect is fit to live in this Perfect nature. And if it is so, why do we still seek for perfect-ness?
Humans are never satisfied (which includes me), and that is why we never have enough of everything that satisfies our fleshly needs. This explains why by the sinful nature that we all possesses, all the things we considered as 'needs' only tends to satisfy our old-self or flesh, it is never or seldom the spiritual side.
We need to learn that everything in this world is temporal and we should not dwell so much in it as we are doing so. When the Time comes, we will leave what we treasure here to the Kingdom where only the One that will be treasured ultimately.
